Upcoming: Shamans VS Robot (Men) — On view soonCarlos Durazo is a Los Angeles–based visual artist working in painting, sculpture, and digital media. His practice explores the intersection of urban memory, cultural hybridity, and the material poetics of the everyday — drawing from his Mexican-American heritage and the dynamic landscape of Southern California.
Durazo received his Master of Fine Arts from NYU and his Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Otis Art institute. He has been the recipient of numerous grants, including the Ann Baxter scholership from Otis Art institute.
His work has been exhibited nationally at venues including the Bronx museum, Queens College Art Museum, El Camino College and 515 Gallery.
In this new series, Carlos Durazo explores the tension between ancient ritual and contemporary tech. Through large-scale paintings, he examines the figure of the shaman as a cultural archetype, contrasting it with the constructed roles of modern men.
The exhibition features 6 new works. Durazo draws from his Mexican-American heritage and the urban landscape of Los Angeles to create a dialogue between tradition and the present.

Oil on canvas painting. Durazo combines layes of images creating a sence of space, Thinking of Stewart Davis. Often my work recembles Machines. and sometimes stainglass windows sometimes the works feel both ancient and futuristic.
